Can you guys recomend, and good Alan Silvestri action scores? I have a few of his scores and I really like the action ones.
The ones I already have are
    Eraser
    Predator
    Volcano
    Judge Dredd
    Long Kiss Goodnight
    what are some other?

P.S. Was there ever any official release of Predator?, even if it was just the main theme on a compliation?

P.S. What does P.S. stand for?

    -NP Eraser (Alan Silvestri) ****

Mousehunt is a lot of fun. A large portion of it is cartoonish-action music. It can get exciting. It has many diverse themes. There's a great theme for the mouse that has many rousing moments, a very lovely theme for the few emotional moments in the film, a short whistling tune that is almost impossible to get out of your head, and a few other ideas. Much to enjoy for a 30 minute Varese CD!

The Abyss is a pretty good buy. There are a few action tracks, but they don't leave any impression. There is some wonderful choral music and a good love theme during the finale, but most of the other tracks meander on with very little happening.

You may want to try Contact also. It doesn't hold its own too well outside of the film, but the theme is good. There are some great suspense-building moments that could pass as action, but, if you saw the film and did not think much of what you heard, this disc won't get too many spins after the first few listens.

Finally, if ever you dare to venture from action music into Silvestri's large romantic-comedy genre, try Grumpy Old Men or Father of The Bride. I prefer Father of The Bride Part 2 over the first. His work in this genre always provides a lush orchestral theme, but a lot of it is very similar. If you get one of them, you've heard almost all of them.

    Hope this helps!

Of course, I'm already under the impression that you already own a Back To The Future score...

Definitely go for "The Parent Trap." His score for this movie was absolutely wonderful.

"Back to the Future III" has got some nice action tracks and is an enjoyable soundtrack overall. Gae P.S. Happy New Year everyone!!! (No bugs over here on my computer...the next bug possibility -apparently- is Feb 29th because of the leap year...cor, isn't it about time the powers that-be-stop being "prophets of doom" about the millenium...its becoming a bit tedious!!)

Be aware that if you look to buy Contact, that the theme is so much like forrest gump, that you might as well buy that one. I think the action cue during the "run forrest run" montage is better than any action cue in Contact. Even though I like Contact as well and own both.

Predator 2 has the same themes as 1, but better developed in my opinion and with really cool Afro/Latin percussion accompaniments.

    Happy New Year!

    The Abyss
    Back to the Future
    Mouse Hunt
    The Parent Trap

Those are my favorites, but there's one more... IF, and that's a big IF you can find it (it's been out-of-print for a long time) get Who Framed Roger Rabbit? It's an awesome score... I wish I had it.

I agree with James. Definitely get Roger Rabbit (heck, I'll send you some mp3z, Tim). I was fortunate and happened to get an original copy. I'm definitely not letting this one go! =)

Hey Tim, have a CD burner? I'll send you a blank CD-R so you can copy Predator for me. This, along with the Good Will Hunting promo are the two scores I have been wanting for the longest time. Predator occasionally crawls onto EBAY, but it's not worth $75, that's for sure.

I know I've said this before (though I'm sure nobody remembers), but being a huge Roger Rabbit fan since I was 5 and an avid Alan Silvestri fan I can honestly say that Roger Rabbit is Mr. Silvestri's greatest score. ...so many memories...
The only other score of his that comes close is the amazing Back to the Future. All my worries float away when I listen to the "this is heavy, doc did get shot, but he's wearing a bullet proof vest and he's alive" music. ^_^
