My friends hated it. I loved it. Why? Because to them the trailor made it out to be a scary movie. I never saw the trailors. And did that change anything for me? Not one damned bit!

Because I went into it knowing that it was going to be a Tim Burton movie...not a scary film based on an old Legend directed by him. So when I came out of the theater my friends all went "that movie sucked" while I was goin'...WTF are you all talking about?! IT WAS A TIM BURTON MOVIE!!! And it had Danny Elfman music in it. Ahhh the pleasures of film...

Anyways, for a Tim Burton movie...I'd say it was his best. However, as horror films stand, It didn't scare me to the least. Nor did it gross me out (Having seen Highlander and lots of mideval movies depicting decapitations and such). So it didn't make me shiver. I was just looking for more great music, creepy settings, and cooky gadgets/acting. Well done Mr. Burton. You finally have your masterpiece that wasn't a kids movie!

The music, BTW was a great treat. Having been Elfmanless for at least a year, I found myself greatly anticipating this score, and got what I wanted! Great gothic undertones topped off with some beautiful haunting chorals and some nice soprano vocals to boot. Great stuff.

NP - Danny Elfman's Music for a Darkened Theatre (Volume II)

PS...sorry about the typoe in the topic title. I didn't notice it until after I posted it. Too bad you can't edit that! Grrrr

    Aaron,

    Don't you mean typos?

I thought the movie was great also, and the music was awesome, the Elfman of old. Don't get me wrong, I loved the music he did for Good Will Hunting, but we haven't had a quintessential Elfman score for a while.

Did anyone else notice that during the opening credits when the "Music by Danny Elfman" credit appeared the music got a lot louder, he did it for Tim Burton's name also.

    Aaron

    Audacity,

I've noticed that in many other movies as well, such as (off the top of my head) Stargate. I know there are others but I can't think of them now.

I still haven't listened to this fully because Sleepy Hollow has been in constantly. I love that!
