It's offical sports fans,David Arnold will compose the music for this new film starring Mel Gibson that is set to be released June 30th of 2000. The film is directed by Roland Emmerich (StarGare, ID4), produced by Dean Devlin (StarGate, ID4) and written by Robert Rodat (Saving Pvt. Ryan). (OH YEAH) This is a change for the team, from alien worlds and HUGE alien ships (and Will Smith), to an epic (I hope) story, no aliens, ships, or strange gates attached

And don't worry, I'm sure a score release will be forth coming.
I'll keep you all posted, as I usally do

Crono.....funny you should mention this
Here is a brief preview of our interview with David for MovieMusic readers only
...full interview will be online November 10th! This interview was co-written with helen San at Cinemusic Online-ScoreLogue/Cinemusic: Will you be doing any more projects with them?
David Arnold: Apparently the next one is The Patriot, a Mel Gibson starrer about the American War of Independence. Thank God! No aliens, no monsters, no special effects. Nothing to hide behind.
SL/CO: When will The Patriot be released?
DA: The latest I’ve heard for work on it is the middle of January, start working in February. I think the movie’s coming out in May..... I think The Patriot will be a very different kind of thing. The film I could do most successfully would be a period war film, a tragic love story, terribly dark, yearning melodies with some army in there.
---------This is a very long interview that really covers all things David Arnold, so come check it out on 11/10/99

Well David explain the rumor about Nicholas Dodd secretly co composing all of his score?

Tim - grrrr - I seriously doubt any of that is true. I know you played for me the sample from Joel Goldsmith's score from Kull the Conquerer... but come on, seriously.David Arnold doesn't need any help. He's brilliant by himself - and I think Nick Dodd would want more credit if he had more to do with the scores as you are implying. We knew Trevor Rabin did the score for Armageddon, but HGW's name was always attached to the project... and not because of advertising.
Let's be realistic! And sensible.
David Arnold is the man, and I fully support him and HIS creative efforts. I dare say I rank him up there w/ Jerry - except... well, no one compares with Jerry.
So maybe a tad bit under.~Jeron

Tim, I forgot he composed The Last of the Dogmen. I also have never heard it
Also, just because a composer is really doesn't mean that he's getting help from thrid party. Can we just enjoy his music?
