OK folks, here's an interesting little topic that I like to describe as an offspring of the Now Playing idea. If you had a 5-CD changer, and had your choice of ANY 5 soundtracks but could only play them every day for the rest of your life, what ones would you play? I know this sounds really lame but think of how many people I just pissed off by posting this...MWAAAHAHAHAHA. I only said that because I know how hard it is to answer the question, because I'm having trouble doing so myself. Anyways, here's my picks.

    1) Return of the Jedi
    2) Braveheart
    3) Contact
    4) Titanic
    5) Prince of Egypt

So far those are the only scores I have that I can listen to over and over. Not that the other ones suck, its just that for me to deal with them for the rest of my life I have to be able to hum to the music. Ahh well. Give me your thoughts!

Personally, I wouldn't pick only soundtracks. I'd probably have a couple of soundtracks, a couple of Broadway Cast Recordings and maybe something classical. But since the question specifically stated SOUNDTRACKS, I pick the following:

    1. National Public Radio Milestones of the Millenium
(This is a compilation c.d. with many of the classic film music themes--like Laura, Star Wars, High Noon, etc.)
    2. Life is Beautiful
    3. Empire of the Sun
    4. The Mission
    5. Saving Private Ryan (I don't actually own this one--but I have a feeling that if/when I purchase it I'll absolutely love it.)

    AaronR1074,
    THIS IS HARD MAN!!!!

I don't think this is lame at all. It's hard as hell, but not lame.

Off the top of my these would be my choices (I am going to regret this, I just know it).

    ET
    Star Wars
    The Omen 2
    Rudy
    Schindlers List

    By the way, Mary
I haven't been here for that long but this is the first time I see a posting from you. Finally we got some females in here.
Anyway, nice to know you. Nice choices.

Ok. I'm rambling so I'll shut up

    Scott

    The Rock
Armageddon Complete Score (Selected tracks fit them to one CD)
    The Phantom Menace
    The Transformers: The Movie

I'm with Mary that I'd probably take along some classical, but since this is soundtracks, here are my five choices:

    Cutthroat Island (John Debney)
The Disappearance of Garcia Lorca (Mark McKenzie)
The Land Before Time (James Horner)
Music for a Darkened Theatre, Vol. 2, Disc 1 (Elfman)
    The Piano (Michael Nyman)

And just for the heck of it, I'd cheat, use my seven-CD changer and add these two to my list:

The House on Sorority Row / The Alchemist (Richard Band)
A Patch of Blue (Jerry Goldsmith)

    James
    NP - Glory (*****)

Quite the interesting subject...seeing how I am actually in this kind of situation (commute approximately 3 hours to school, with my 6-disc CD changer). Realistically, I rotate the CDs whenever I am done with all 6 CDs (when I get back from school), or when I feel the urge to cruise and waste gas, I would pick particular CDs for the particular mood that I am in. So here's the list for SIX CDs (not all soundtracks).

I naturally mix up the variety of the CDs. One would be
    1. Video Game Mix CD (Castlevania, Mario Kart/Party, Soul Blade, Street Fighter EX, Final Fantasy).

    2. & 3. "Hans Zimmer & Party" would occupy two slots (Between Con Air, Face/Off, Backdraft, Follow Your Dreams vol. I & II)

    4. & 5. John Williams for another two (between the Star Wars collection, Superman, Amistad, Saving Private Ryan),
    6. and finally a mainstream 80s music (Madonna, George Michael, Starship, etc.)

Honorable mentions (when I have absolutely worn out the music listed above):

    Gattaca
    Batman
    Braveheart
    Dragonheart
    Rudy

And as pathetic as it may sound, the WWF entrance music Volumes 3 (already out) & 4 (coming out November 2) would also be on that honorable mentions list. Reason? Variety. It's different from listening to six soundtracks in a row.

I understand many of you probably think wrestling is too vulgar (or moronic), buy at least listen to the WWF wrestlers' entrance music. They're terrific! Personal favorites: The Rock (old version & new version with guitars), D-Generation X, The Brood, Val Venis, Edge (New & Old Version), Mankind, and Triple H. Again, if wrestling is idiotic in your eyes, heed no attention to the wrestling (or lack of, whatever you think it is), but give the music a try!

Well, let's see. I've already got a CD-changer, so I do this regularly. My choices would be:

    1. Superman
    2. Empire Strikes Back
    3. 2001: A Space Odyssey (Alex North's - not that classical stuff)
    4. Star Trek: The Motion Picture
    5. Contact

NP - Twilight Zone 40th Anniv.

    Impossible, but...

    1. Return of the Jedi
    2. The Mummy
    3. The Rock
    4. Willow
    5. Predator

All of these are long, and that is one major reason why I like them. There are so many more...

First of all, the music for wrestling is in a way a soundtrack, not necessarily for movies, but a soundtrack nevertheless. It's mostly rock/techno and very synthesized. But they are still themes for individual characters like the way Superman has his theme and Jones has his Raiders March. So this is off-topic (sort of)--

    To Scott,

Quite surprising to find another WWF (or wrestling) fan here, of all places. Boy it sure is true that everyone's got closet full of surprises. Anyway....

I need opinions on WWF The Music Vol.II and Vol. I, for many of the wrestlers in those tracks are long gone and/or their music isn't used anymore. Thanks! Make room for WWF The Music Vol. 4, which contains the best theme songs IMHO to date. The Rock's New Version is simply spectacular when the guitar gets crazy....

We now return to your regular broadcasting.

    Norman,
as I mentioned before, we like both volumes. I mean, yeah a lot of the wrestlers are not around anymore and have changed their themes, but the old themes are still good, if you know what I mean.

By the way, how long have you been a fan?

    IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW LONG....(HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA)

    Again, off-topic--

    Scott,

Man that's good stuff...."IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW LONG..." (He's my fav, BTW) Glad I caught that....

I just recently revived my interest when I started watching WWF RAW last year during those napping hours at the dorm (free cable) and every week I would dedicate two hours on Monday night and catch the storyline (Everyone at the dorm thought I was a moron. I say !*#&!(# them, but that's beside the point). I think I really caught on during the Stone Cold versus the Corporation days, when the People's Champ and Triple H were with the Corporation. To boot, I think the entrance music is what really caught my interest. The way the wrestlers make their entrance (the impact it has during an on-going match, like the bottle crashing when Vince's unleashing his evil plans in the ring or something) is something that I always hoped would be carried over onto the silver screen. I am just fascinated with this "man enters and makes HUGE impact with his sudden appearance/presence" thing, as if one wave of their hand would change the world. The entrance music enhances that effect.

However, the recent tragedies with Owen Hart and Droz have made me a little disappointed and angry in the way WWF has handled its publicity and its treatment of the wrestlers themselves. I don't know....but in any case, "Have a nice day!"
