    Hey Scott-

Ya know, that writing assignment hasn't been employed yet... and I'm still struggling with my choices. Funny you posted that question - because I was going to e-mail my professor in a few minutes, asking him when he figured we'd do it. We just learned a new writing strategy called "looping" - which might actually be a good writing tool to use in conjunction with the music.

There is simply soooo much good music to use, I just don't know! And don't get me wrong, I've taken each and every suggestion I received into consideration.

Would it surprise anyone if I used a majority of Goldsmith... though?

Here are my thoughts... so far:

    1)Rudy (4:27)
    - Tryouts

    2)The 13th Warrior (3:41)
    - Exiled

    3)Air Force One
    - McNeely Material?

    4)The Mummy????
    - Mumia Attack
    - The Caravan

I'm still in the thinking process. Lemme know what ya think.

    ~Jeron

PS - And for some reason I'm wanting to use a bit of Trevor Rabin as well... and Davis' score for The Matrix is rather intreaguing....

Alright- good news. I think I have more than a 10 minute limit now!

I wrote my professor regarding the "looping" technique, which consists at the very least of (3) 8-minute phases, and this was his response:

"I like your idea about looping to music. I think it will prove inspiring and productive. At the very least, it'll be fun and different. You take charge of the music and let me know what equipment I'll need to order for the classroom and when you'd like to do it."

    So... cool, very cool!

    Jeron,
I think your choices are nothing less than inspired...which is just another way of saying "I like it".
Would you consider Borne on the Fourth of July by Williams and perhaps the Tree theme by Goldsmith from Medicine Man? Whenever I write (which is often although it doesn't show in my spelling), these scores have inspired me to no ends.

Your professor is so darn cool...

Geeesh, everytime I come to the message board, I see my name and it just makes me feel sooo special. Uhhhh.... hehe

I have considered the "Tree" theme from The Medicine Man. I haven't heard Born on the 4th of July, so I can't really tell ya about that one. I do think I may use something Kamen though... any suggestions? I pulled out my "The Three Musketeers" cd today and heard a couple of really good cues. Of course... "What Dreams May Come" has some pretty incredible music (in a reflective sense).

Goldsmith's "Lionheart" might be good, too....

    Jeron,

    OH MY GOD!!!

I canīt belive your not using some of Elfmanīs music...no seriously...you really should put something of GWH or Dolores Clairborne in there. Even if it is only some of the shorter cues. And if you have Psycho, use some of that..if not..then Iīll just have to shoot you.

SFT - hehe, I was hoping I'd hear from you.

I would LOVE to use Good Will Hunting - but I don't have a decent recording.

    Jeron,
you are special.Everyone at this site is special.
Anyway, about Kamen. He is an incredible composer. Besides Three Musketeers I think Robin Hood would be good and Circle of Friends has this nice Irish cling to it (being part Irish myself that might be a tad bias).
Now to borne on the fourth of July, I can't believe you haven't heard the music. You don't own the cd? My advice, whether you use it or not, buy it, it's still wildly available and usually for a good price. The Main Theme and Prologue are just awsome. One of the best scores ever. Unfortunatley you only get about 20 min worth on the OST but, trust me it is worth having.
Okay, time to listen to some 13Warrior and watch some South Park (why ever did I make this promise to Matt).

    Scott

Get it, I'm not kidding I will have to assasinate you if you don't!

    Sounds good, Scott.

SFT - I may go out and purchase Edward Scissorhands, simply because I need to add that one to my Elfman collection... but I know it might work well in the suite of music. What are your thoughts?

YOU DONīT HAVE EDWARD SCISSORHANDS ALREADY!?!?!?!?! SHAME ON YOU!!! AND YOU CALL YOURSELF A SOUNDTRACK COLLECTOR!!!!!

If you wanīt to use ES, then use either "Storytime", "Etiquette Lesson" or "Death" for extremely beautyfull, sad and haunting music, or "Edwardo the Barber" for a comic, lush and beautyfull cue.

When that is said, dont use cues like "The Tide Turns" or "The Grand Finale"...it would just be too overpowering.

And, if you edit any of those tracks, then I WILL shoot you...such brilliant, maginficent music deserves to be heard in itīs full leght.
