Crono,darkhorizons.com posted some news about it this morning, stating that the soundtrack will be exclusively sold from CDNow.com, and available this friday. Track listings are available and I think there are at least five score tracks, one of them is available to listen to through the site. There are no extraneous "Inspired by" tracks on it. The movie, I got to see at sneak on Monday- and it ROCKED! It was a well balanced, artistically crafted ACTION picture. How often does that come up?

So, WS, if I understand you correctly, you will only be ABLE to get the CD via CDNow.com and no place else, like a local CD store? That's lame. Thanks for the info.

That's correct, Crono- it won't be in a store- but on the bright side, it's only selling for 11.88 at CDNow. I'm not sure what it goes for at MP3.com for downloads, but that's not a bad price before shipping. And I think we're looking at somewhat of a new way for soundtracks to get released. Exclusive sales through website are difficult if you don't have good distribution, that's why gimmicks to do so by artists personal site often don't do all that well. But CDNow has the muscle to move the merchandise, and if Warner Bros. wishes to release more this way, it might prove more beneficial to our consumer needs. I personally prefer shopping at websites as opposed to stores due to the horrendous service I get trying to find a score.
I really don't plan to get Three Kings, but I'll be looking for this kind of availability again. It may turn into a positive trend.

Widescreen,
you made a comment that you do not like to shop in stores do to the service. In a way I can understand that but really, these guys (as most people) don't know anything about scores. What I like about the stores is that sometimes you find little gems (did I spell that correctley?)umong the other soundtracks-especially in the used section.Scott

I think Widescreen is talking about regular music stores like The Wherehouse. Becuase I hate how they treat scores, and the customers.
First, they'll have the soundtrack album with all songs the first day it's release on the shelves and ready to sell.
But they'll get the Score CD upto 3 weeks late! And they forget I suppose to put it on the shelf, and I wind up having to go ask for it, and they pull it out from under the counter. And it's like only 1 or 2 copies in the hole store! Then they always put the soundtrack album on sale and drop like $5.
But The score CD remains at $17 forever! The clerks do know what scores are but they don't expect anyone to actually buy one. That's why most of the time, when you goto pay for a score CD, they look at you funny and say something stupid like "You know this is the score right ? just the instrumental stuff."
That's why I hate stores, however used CDs stores too useful to ignore.

TimT,
it's at the Wherehouse at their used cd section that I have found some really rare cd's for an incredible price (like Innerspace).Just thought I mention that,

Has anyone noticed that this film used other scores such as "flesh and bone" by Thomas Newman and "The Siege" by Graeme Revell ?? Thats interesting.

I saw the flick yesterday and I just to let everyone know that if there's one movie this year you have to see, it's Three Kings. I am not saying that it's the greatest movie ever, but it's something that everyone has to see.Onto my question....please help me out!!
I did realize that in the credits Newman and Revell came up, but throughout the movie, I was very impressed by several segments where there was score music, (the scene where Clooney and Ice Cube pull the "Uncle Sam wants you" routine on the Iraqi Rebels") and just want to WHERE and WHEN Newman's and Revell's music were used!! I noticed two distinct melodies....one with an Arab flavor, and the other the mellow soft score....who did what?!
I really want to see a score release of this soundtrack...is there one?

Ok I'm not sure where and when Newman's scores were, but
as from Revell ,"Torture" and "The Prisoner's Release" from "The Siege" were mixed tother and used at the end.
from when they get arrested and they offer the gold to let the refugess go, and then they are set free to cross the border.[This message has been edited by TimT (edited 10-03-99).]
