Did anybody see this movie on the USA network? I did and liked it for the most part. But what was up with the music? It sounds like it was all done on synth, and now Varese is releasing it.

The music was alright. I liked certain parts of it. But it sort of raises an interesting question. Would you shell out fifteen bucks for a score that was done on synth, but was supposed to sound orchestral? Granted, there are some score that are supposed to sound electronic, "Matrix" and "Pi" just to name a couple. But to use synth to try to simulate an orchestra for a full blown score just doesn't work for me.

    Your thoughts?

I agree. I thought the movie was okay, but I d the music. Except for a few parts, the music was strange. I sure wouldn't pay fifteen bucks for it.

This phenomenon tcks me off a lot. Richard Band is one of my favorite composers, but since the early 80's he rarely ever been given the budget for an orchestra, and he is forced to use low-budget synths. In some cases, there are such scores I would pay for. Doctor Mordrid (Band), for instance, has a really cool "Batmanian" main theme which I wouldn't want my collection to be without out. I haven't heard JTTCOTE, so I can't comment on that one. Another really good such score is for the tv-movie Asteroid, which Shirley Walker did the music for. It would have souned awesome with a real orchestra.

I wouldn't buy this score unless I could get it used for under 8 bucks.

I found it very repetitive. I mean every time the professor and the girl get close the same love theme, note for note with no variation. Ugh!

If you want a good "Journey" try the Bernard Herrmann version released by Varese. Excellent
