Has anyone purchased this cd yet?I Could not find any sound clips anywhere,so i'm wondering if the music sounds true to the originals? I've seen the track listing, and it seems like all of the important cues are included. But are there any cues that are noticably absent from the release that should have been included?Basically i'm asking if this cd is a good purchase for a fan of the trilogy?

The track titles are listed at CDworld.com ,and I also just wanted to point out that in your review you stated that Zemeckis and co.,took a chance in putting the "to be continued" title at the end of the first film.Well in the original version in the theatres and on video, the title was not there. It wasn't until after BTTF 2 came out and they ran BTTF on television, that they added the "to be continued" title.

    Matthew,

    Actually, you are incorrect.

The "To Be Continued" title WAS on the original film. I saw this film in the theatre and on video when it first came out. I actually have an old dub copy of BTTF from the rented video we got at the time. That's why for 4 years people were wondering when the next installment would be released.

I saw the CD in Best Buy today, but decided against it. The only things I don't have are the music from the first movie and the "BTTF Ride" cues, so (to me) it's not worth the money. I've already got BTTF 2 and 3 on CD.

Is someone going to re-release the real soundtrack? I have heard something a re-recording. I really like the score for all 3 of the Back To The Future movies. I'm always tempted to get the first cd but it has a lot of songs from the movie.

Kevin, how can you say the "ONLY" things you don't have are the music from the first movie and the "BTTF Ride" cues???????

So you read the track titles and you thing it's not worth getting "Skateboard Chase" and the 11 minutes of the "Clocktower scenes"?

I truly recommend you to watch the movie again and LISTEN to that cues to see if they're really worth (unless you can't notice the difference between the music from the three movies -after all, since you say that you have enough with the other two CDs... oh well)

I've been waiting for ANY release of that music for 14 years. I was 20 when I first saw BTTF, and being a devoted film music fan since 1977, I was happilly surpised by Silvestri's brilliant and imaginative score, that the HIGHLY disappointing RCA release absurdly ignored.

C'mon! The music from the Skateboard Chase! Please, listen to the music from that scene. The whole score is a masterpiece!

Umm guys, call me ignorant if you want to, but what are the differences between the skateboard chase and the hoverboard chase? Like, say both of the scenes are the same, just one took place in the 1955 and the other in 2015.

Anyway, I only have BTTF2 and what are the scores that this trilogy has that BTTF3 does not have? And any of those not included in the trilogy worth listening to?

    Cheers.

Some of the songs on the BTTF 1 album are worth it! Come on guys... I'm 18 - I love the score, but the songs are vintage 80's!! They go hand in hand w/ the feel of BTTF score, anyways. When I hear the BTTF fanfare, the next thing that comes to mind is:

"Tell me doctor, where are we goin' this time? Is this the fifties... or ninteen-ninety nine? All I wanted to do, is play my guitar and sing: So take me away, I don't mind..., but you'd better promise me I'll be BACK IN TIME!" (and if you don't know what that song is... you've never seen a BTTF movie).

Just my 2 cents (as usual)...

Well, right now the money issue is a tight one, so I must pick and choose.

And since I must pick and choose, I choose not to buy this CD. Perhaps in the future, but not at this time.

I can only allot a certain amount of funds to this affectation, and after I heard about the Twilight Zone set, that's what my money's going to.

Hate to contradict you Erik, but it wasn't on the first prints that were shown in theaters. It was only when they knew they had a hit (When they released to theaters in the fall) that they changed it. I saw it about ten times that summer because a buddy of mine was managing the local Loews.

Man, I made out like a bandit! Saw Everything that year. And what a sweet year! 1985!

I just bought the Trilogy CD Saturday- I love the packaging on it and it's such a good performance. There were times listening to it that I found myself saying, "Let's see if you b@*#!@ds can do 90!" at just the right moment.

Until now, I hadn't had the music in my posession, nor heard by way of musical reproduction in ten years- I felt like I'd made up for lost time!

And here's a crazy newsflash: Expect the first BTTF on DVD late this year or early next year (Universal tends to go back and forth as to when, but they've admitted that work has been done on the disc.

I bought the CD. . .did John Debney forget to consult with Alan Silvestri? Or did the actual composer of the score just forget, (or lose his notes), how the score sounded in the movie? On the first film's score, which has never been available before, I noticed some errors, (I think). "Skateboard Chase" has an ending that never occurred in the film. It was supposed to have the theme in a blast of power as Marty runs over the top of Biff's Ford, (not Cadillac, as it was referred to in the liner notes), and the car smashes into the truck in the middle of that thematic blast. What happened on the CD?

Next, there is some orchestration that has been left out completely, on the part of some of the stringed instruments, which should have added that rhythmic pacing that made the score such a thrill to hear.

I also heard a big difference in the "85 Lone Pine Mall". The rest seemed pretty well on, (aside from some minor alterations in "Clocktower 2".

With the new score additions to BTTFII, I have major complaint. "End Logo" should have had the main theme, as featured in the film, not the altered music Debney put in. "The West" was also changed from the film. And just what was that weird "happy-smack" thematic change to "The Letter". Did Debney forget that this was originally titled "Western Union" on the original release? If he'd bothered to hear it, he would have known how far off of the orchestration he went.

If Varese insists on re-recording classic scores, why don't they have the original composer and conductors do it, like they did with John Barry and the score to "Somewhere in Time"?

Well... sorry to burst your bubble Sartori, but Debney did the Varese re-recording of John Barry's "Somewhere in Time," as well. Joel McNeely did his re-recording of "Out of Africa."

    Jeron -

I'm sorry. You're right about that "Somewhere in Time" release. I must have misread the CD when I saw it at Best Buy. But my question still remains. Why not have the original composer come back?

The original composer may want too much money? This seems to be a problem with John Barry lately...

Jerry Goldsmith has conducted all of his re-recordings thus far, though it's because he has such a love for the music.

    Who knows?

    Jeron,
about Jerry Goldsmith doing all of his re-recordings,this is partly true.He has never conducted any of his re-recorded scores for any other company (to my knowledge) except for Varese. This is due to his long friendship with Tompson (is that his name??).
