    Hey there,
Is the release of this score worth getting it?

It's pretty good. Some parts are similar to Shawshank Redemption/Scent of a Woman. There are a few amazing bits but it feels a bit like Newman is treading water. I like it, though...

    Rating: 7/10

Personally, I really like it. I think its Newmans best since Shawshank Redemption. If you like Newmans style then I'm sure you'll like it. The love theme (I guess) reminds me of a Barry theme, especially in the track "Walkaway" and the last two (score) tracks are especially good. Pure Newman

I like this one. It seems that on most of T. Newman's scores he writes a theme that is really beautiful. On Meet Joe Black that theme is called "Everywhere Freesia" and it's very, very nice. Check out a sound clip at CD Now or Amazon.

It has recently been suggested to me that Shawshank Redemption is a great score and that I should definitely purchase it. I have never been a fan of T. Newman so have never heard Shawshank outside the movie. I have listened to the entire Meet Joe Black score at a local store and didn't like it at all. If Shawshank sounds anything like Meet Joe, as some of you have said, than I have no desire to purchase it. Someone please tell me that Shaw is a lot better than Meet Joe.

I love this score and highly recommend it. Normally I prefer more action oriented scores over dramatic ones, but I place this one high on my "favorites" list.

I heard one track on a WFMU archive and I think it's a masterpiece. The track is called WHISPER OF A THRILL. (It's immediately followed on the following audiofile by John Barry's LOVE THEME from DANCES WITH WOLVES.)

If you like masterpieces, have a listen the first half of the long track at the end 'That Next Place'. Great stuff.

    Is the film any good?

The film is pretty good. It's 3 hours long but has a nice love story. After a while Brad Pitt gets on your nerves though cuz he seems all stiff throughout the entire thing. Well, when he's death at least.

Personally, I really enjoyed both the score and the film.
It has a nice love story and I thought Anthony Hopkins was great in it. There were a lot of memorable scenes like when he talks to his daughter (Claire Forlani), the coffee shop scene, and the ending fireworks scene. I don't know...maybe it's a girl thing. There were a lot of mushy parts

Hey now that's sexist! I liked the movie and I'm not a girl. So take that! ....although I probably shouldn't admit I liked the movie...

I actually know some guys who like the movie and it's nice to see you do too!
haha And it's good to admit it! A lot of guys wouldn't... But girls like guys who aren't afraid to share that kind of stuff so more power to you!
