Arlington Road by Angelo Badalamenti... is this as bad as it sounds?I heard this was an excellent movie. A lot of the time, I buy the music before I see the movie, depending on the composer. I had heard of Angelo Badalamenti before this cd, so I had no idea about what it would be like. When put the cd, I found it to be incredibly disappointing. I now consider that purchase to be my first bad score purchase, and believe me - I'm 18 and I have 350+ score cds. Not one bad decision until then. Is there ANYONE who can reinvest curiosity in this score for me? Cause right now, it's doing absolutely nothing for me.
Thanks,
Jeron[This message has been edited by Jeron (edited 08-29-99).]

I liked the film, and I also like the score. The first track is my absolute favorite--some of the other tracks are not that great, but I REALLY like number one!NP: Arlington Road!

Hmmmm... k, I'll give it another listen. And... Matt! With mainstream composers like Goldsmith, Williams, Arnold, Horner, T. Jones, C. Young, etc... I don't need to see the movie to know the score is good. I did buy Arlington Road out of "hearing" it was a good score, and was a little shocked at what I found. Perhaps I was expecting something else? As far as seeing the movie first... Nah... I like to see what images are conjured in my mind before I let the movie place them for me.~Jeron

Hey Jeron, hate to bring up MY philosophy on purchasing soundtracks but looks like I am gonna....Yeah, it is best to see the movie FIRST, this way you not only get to enjoy a movie but consider it as a preview of the soundtrack (which it is!) so you wouldn't have to dish out $18 for a soundtrack that you might regret later.
But hey, don't stop buying soundtracks without watching those movies, otherwise you would only have as many as me....heh heh....just watch the movei for those particular scores to which you are not so sure about....
