Does anyone out there recommend this score? I just saw the movie and the lullaby "Suo Gan" is played three times throughout the movie, and I was wondering if this was duplicated on the soundtrack (I HOPE it is in there 3 times, like reprisals from in Amistad or Saving Private Ryan)? My love for this score/movie was sealed when "Suo Gan" came up the second time when Jim started singing on the airfield.

This is hands down the most emotional track from Williams ever (IMHO) right with "Dry Your Tears, Afrika" and "Hymn of the Fallen." BUT hold on a second....

I did catch a glimpse of the credits at the end of the movie for the track "Suo Gan," and it was NOT composed by Williams, so I should refrain from calling it the most emotional track from Williams....can anyone clarify this?

"Suo Gan" is a traditional Welsh hymn, which Williams adapted for the film "Empire of the Sun". It was not composed by him, (unlike "Hymn to the Fallen".) It is a beautiful song though, nonetheless.

Lancelot is right -- Williams did not compose the tune "Suo Gan", though he may have arranged it somewhat for the soundtrack. He did, however, compose the song "Exultate Justi" for the movie, which he has since conducted at numerous live performances with the Boston Pops and others.

All in all, I'd definitely say EMPIRE OF THE SUN is worth owning, particularly if you find it on CD, which seems to be rare these days.
