Any opinions on this score? I haven't seen the movie yet but I think Ottman is a real talent. Thinking of getting it...but I wasn't crazy about APT PUPIL.

I think its "ok", it's not the typical horror score. Then agian nothing that Ottman writes is typical :-).
I mean I couldn't compare it to Jaws or Deep Blue Sea or anything like that. The score is more adventurous than scary, and when it is its not anything bombastic, You know Ottman does not use the large orchestral crashes that other horror scores use. I recommend it if you are tired of generic Horror score, and want to hear it done a little different.John Ottman CDs I recommend are Snow White:A Tale Of Terror, Incognito, Good Bye Lover, and Cable Guy.

I'm still having trouble forming any kind of opinion on Lake Placid. I think the main theme is really cool, not at all what I was expecting. The rest of the score I guess is pretty good. The love theme is pretty, but for the most part inconsequential (like the movie I suppose). It's not as emotional as Ottman's other scores, but I can't explain it well. Not as striking as his other scores (I liked Apt Pupil a lot), but definitely not your average horror score. It's worth getting, I'd say.James
