Hi Guys... I discovered a couple of cheap soundtracks recently in a local score and seeing that I was such a film music fan, the owner of the store brought over a load of soundtracks that he got at auction and priced them all at £4.99 (thats a third of the normal price over here in the U.K.) Anyway, suffice it to say I have just bought 9 soundtracks from him and on first listening thay all sound superb. Any extra titbits of info on these scores would be appreciated.... they are...

Legends of the Fall(Horner) I've heard so much praise about this and to be honest on 1st listening it sounds awesome. A cross between Titanic/Jumanji/Braveheart with a central theme that almost sounds Barry-esque....and I haven't even seen the movie!!
Dick Tracy(Elfman) A very different sounding Elfman with the Jazzy/nostalgic elements....interesting 1st impression.

The Deceivers(John Scott) Never seen the film starring Pierce Brosnan but bought this purely on Scott's reputation and it sounds brilliant, very evocative Middle-Eastern type music with lots of action cues.

The Mask of Zorro (Horner) Haven't heard or seen the film yet!

The Spirit of St.Louis (Waxman) A complex and classic sounding score...lots of listenings needed....Great Movie with Jimmie Stewart!

    Dragonheart (R. Edelman)

    Star Trek:Generations (D.Mccarthy)

Always (J. Williams) (very quiet for Williams but I'm sure more listenings will expose hidden treasures).
    Die Hard II (M. Kamen)
Thanks for any extra info Gae NP Dragonheart
    P.S. All these for 45 quid...I still can't believe it..Wow!!!

    A couple of comments:
Legends of the Fall is an excellent movie by Edward Zwick, who teamed with Horner on the classic Glory. See the movie if you haven't already. Edelman's music for Dragonheart might sound familiar since it's used in trailers quite often. Otherwise, I'll have to agree with Dan, you got a great bargain!

Awesome! I was just looking through the used section yesterday at the local Wherehouse Music store and stumbled upon Drop Zone and The Peacemaker for $6.99, but that's still not a bargain when compared to yours at $4.99!! Are they new too?

Say, where would this store be for those of us who might be in the area to check it out? And don't forget to tell your store owner that movie music rules!!

Bad news Norman...I was talking in British pounds(£)...not American Dollars($).. and the store is over here in the U.K...(a bit far to travel from L.A.!!) £4.99 is probably about the same as your bargains of about $6.99 so its no big deal in America. Over here in the U.K. though we get exploited at the cost of everything...people here are getting wise and buying more things in Europe/abroad. CD,s new here are about £15 new (about $25) its a real con....so when bargains like the ones mentioned above come along I just have to share my delight with everyone. Gae NP The Deceivers (J. Scott)

Oops, that's just plain stupid of me....it says clearly in your first post that 1) you were in UK, 2) it was 4.99 with the pound sign (which I can't make).....

Anyway, definitely be glad that you were able to grab so many great scores at such a bargain!! Particularly Dragonheart!!

Glory was another one of the CD's for £4.99 but I opted for Legends of the fall...I may go back and get Glory if its as good as you say. Also I've got my eye on Star Trek:The Undiscovered Country(Eidelman) and The Last Starfighter(C.Safan) at the same price. The reviews I've read seem good...are these worth getting also? thanks. Gae,

Get Star Trek VI and The Last Starfighter- these are quintessential, cannot do without scores. At least Starfighter is, Star Trek VI is at least (if nothing else) a curious variation on Holst's The Planets. For the money, both are worth the buy.

    Gae,

In my opinion Star Trek 6 is the best non-Goldsmith Star Trek score, I absolutelty love it. The Last Starfighter is really a fun score also.
