I have always pondered about the concept of movies releasing BOTH a soundtrack album and a score album, and the last (perhaps the only) movie to hit it big by doing so was Forrest Gump.

Now, there are plenty of songs that I feel BELONG in a movie. I don't know if any of you understand what I am talking about, but I am giving it a try anyway.

Now, if any of you were to make a movie (what kind?), which "songs" would you compile to make into your songs-driven soundtrack? For my movie (drama), I would include the following:

    Marvin Gaye "What's Going On"
    The Verve "Bittersweet Symphony"
    Pearl Jam "Better Man"
Sophie B. Hawkins "Damn, I Wish I was Your Lover"
Donna Lewis "I Will Love You Always and Forever"
    Dionne Farris "I Know"
Buffalo Springfield "For What It's Worth"
    U2 "Streets Of No Name"
U2 "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"
    U2 "Bad"
Tears For Fears "Break It Down"
    INXS "The Stairs"
    INXS "I'm Just A Man"
    Bruce Hornsby "The Valley Road"
    Fleetwood Mac "Gypsy"
Michael Jackson "Man In The Mirror"
    Orbital "Belfast"
Orbital "Halycon & On & On"
    Enigma "Return to Innocence"
    Pat Metheny "Last Train Home"
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony "Dayz Of Our Lives"
Akira Jimbo (Last of Innocence? Not sure about the title)

Anything I left out would probably be on another disc....

I have always dreamed of incorporating these songs into a movie, but also THE RIGHT movie. Hope that dream will come true someday.

    Beauty School Dropout-Grease
    Channel One Suite-Buddy Rich
    Staying Power-Barry White
    Symphony #1-Samuel Barber
    Acid Queen-Tina Turner
    Tubthumping-Chumbawumba
    Alcohol-Barenaked Ladies
    Elegy-Tool

    One Hit Wonder-Everclear
I Get a Kick Out of You-Frank Sinatra

Somebody mentioned Bruce Hornsby, shows excelent taste. I like his music very much.

Anyway- as to my list. This would be for a romantic comedy (much like many entries here.)

I'm In A Philly Mood - Daryl Hall
You've Got It - Simply Red
    Guaranteed - Level 42
Mother, We Just Can't Get Enough - New Radicals
You're Only Human (Second Wind) - Billy Joel
Use Me (Bill Withers song) covered by my favorite local band from Denton, TX.: Mingo Fishtrap
    Ladykiller - Nicky Holland
I'm Thru With Love - Diana Krall
I Wanna Rock & Roll All Night - KISS
I Love Your Smile - Shanice
Talk To Me - Babyface with Eric Clapton
Keep Your Hands To Yourself - The Georgia Satellites

Rather eclectic, bu that's how "companion albums" seem to be sequences nowawdays. Case in point-"Runaway Bride"
