...it's 30 minutes, but it should be a very entertaining half hour! Can't wait!posted 07-19-1999 06:32 AM PT (US)

Hmm....another 30 minuter from Varese. I don't know...but I do get annoyed from their habit of putting out short scores. I won't elaborate anymore....seeing how everyone's had their rant on Varese already. I mean, I appreciate the fact that they are probably the only company that releases scores to movies that nobody has seen, or scores to movies that had soundtracks as well....but when you think about it, some of the movies had more score in them than the songs! So it doesn't make sense why the score would be shorter, like Pleasantville.Anyway...
Here's the question: who prefers longer tracks but fewer tracks over the short but many tracks? Hans Zimmer is renowned for having the longest tracks, and only about six or seven tracks (The Rock, Crimson Tide, and Broken Arrow). Others like Danny Elfman have many tracks, with each lasting under 2 minutes. So what's your preference? Personally? I prefer more tracks (shorter length) so I can split the themes, if there are any.

I prefer more tracks that are shorter in length.A good normal track time for me would be about 4-5 minutes.I enjoy the shorter track times because sometimes there are 9-10 min tracks and the good parts are stuck somewhere in the middle, and you have to either rewind or fast-forward,or just wait to get to the good parts. And I like to just sit back and enjoy the music.

Yeah 30 min is short, but wouldn't you rather have that than 0 min?
I'm sure if you volunteerd to pay all the reuse fees, we'd have no problem getting a 70min+ CD all the time won't we?

I'm going to pick my copy up tomorrow. I preordered it to make sure that I get my copy right away instead of spending a week hunting it down.

I would like to see actual continuous tracks of music as recorded for the film...or featured in the film. Willow has some long tracks, but they came from the movie. The Star Wars SE's have the long, continuous tracks of music. If they would just record the soundtracks like that, I would be very happy.NP: Eyes Wide Shut (Masked Ball)**** - Jocelyn Pook
