As I watch this latest installment from the producers of Merlin, I am once again amazed at what Trevor Jones has done with the London Symphony. The CD comes out on June 11th. The label is Contemporary Recordings (according to CDNow). It's a good one!

    Cool!

I didn't get to see it tonight due to a meeting. I don't know if I should watch part 2 without seeing part 1, but if the music's good, I'll plunk down the money for the score.

Hey James, is your release date correct? 6/11 is a Friday.

The score is great. Like all Jones work, the theme is powerful and you'll be huming it after only one listen.

Well, James, youre right about one thing. "Cleopatra" IS being released on June 11th. The thing is, its a re-recording of Alex Norths score for the old movie "Cleopatra". I dont even think a release planned for Jones' score to the TV movie "Cleopatra".

Its an unfortunate thing, too. I think the score is great, maybe even more thematically rich than "Merlin", one of my favorite scores. Hopefully, though, Varese will release it. It would be a shame if it goes unreleased.

I was wondering when Trevor Jones would compose another TV score. Cleopatra's video quality resembles that of a daytime soap, but perhaps a splendid score by Jones will save it?

Have any of you heard his Notting Hill? I don't know if any of his score is on the soundtrack or not.

Well that's unfortunate news. Jones's score is great. I'm sure North's is to, but the recent one is the one I've heard, and right now that's the one I want! Let's all keep our fingers crossed! Are you reading this, Townson?

Well, I might as well ask; how's this score by Alex North?

thank god for your post Ed. I was a bit scared for a moment there with all the above posts. I love this music; always has been a T.Jones fan. My hunt is on. I just hope you're not pulling our legs or this is some kind of promo you got. It's Tower Records so it can't be. Thanks. By the way, how did you know when the release date was? You know, there used to be a place where you can find out release dates and all. Now you just hope someone have heard something. Let's hope this site will open up soon!

Hi Lucchung, I originally found the release date and Trevor's name (cdnow does not name a composer and has the release date wrong), at Tower's website www.towerrecords.com. I was going to order it right there, but it was not in stock. So I called the closest store which is in Paramus, NJ and was told they had 3 copies (now two). It is not a demo. I tried others like Border's and Coconuts, but no luck. It appears to be in limited distribution. Good luck, I hope you can track it down.
    Ed.

Thanks Ed. I went right out to Tower Records after reading your post during lunch and found a copy. It's a bit more than I normally pay for a CD but hey, this is good stuff!
