Anyone know how much of Mark Mancina's score is on the Tarzan soundtrack?
I think there is 6 or 7 tracks, but how many minutes of music?

Nope, there are only 4 tracks of score and the rest of the album is dominated by Phil Collins. In fact, even the performer for the score is creditted Mark Mancina/ Phil Collins!

A total of 14 tracks, only 4 tracks of scores. As for the total time, I don't know just yet.

Well 4 tracks is fine, but they better be at least 8 min each before I'll buy it.

It's about 16 minutes of score, but it's good.

Phil Collins is one of the few pop music artists that I'll actually buy and I like Mark Mancina's work, so natuarally I'd be prone to like it despite a seeming lack of score cues.

Well, here's the tough news. Mancina'a score tracks don't represent the full amount of score potentially the movie. Not having seen it, I don't know, as the movie itself isn't out until June 18th.

But let me tell you, what we do get is good. Here we have a better score than the last three movies combined. As a Soundtrack overall, fully a soundtrack it is. The songs and score are seamless together because Phil Collins & Mark Mancina (both favorites of mine) worked together as opposed to the separation (obvious) between Matthew Wilder & Jerry Goldsmith for Mulan. Goldsmith should've been brought in first thing on that feature, rather than after the fact.

In any case, to let you know how much I like this soundtrack- I am a huge fan of Hans Zimmer, and I didn't buy The Lion King outright, simply on the basis that my girlfriend has that and all the other Disney animated movie soundtracks from Little Mermaid to now. I bought Tarzan because of the composers involved, and I wasn;t disappointed with the results. Don't look at this as just a Mancina score- look at it as a full soundtrack, is my humble suggestion. The songs are quite good- some of Collins' finest work since his last album with Genesis, not discouting Both Sides albums or his other work surrounding his material within the last 20 years. Mancina flows gently his score with a touch of maturity, a little Zimmer-like mood inspiration here and there , but more with the framework that has been set by working with Collins. The credit should read, "Music by Phil Collins & Mark Mancina." Each contributes something to each part of the music. This is one CD you shouldn't pick apart.

I just got the soundtrack yesterday and the score is GREAT! It has its spectacular moment (A Wondrous World), as well as some touching ones (One Family).

Basically I accept all the Disney soundtracks from The Little Mermaid. I have no problem with the songs as it is the way Disney gets the punchlines for the movies. So what I can say is that this soundtrack I have no problem accepting.

    NP Tarzan

I find it interesting that there is little - no singing by characters of the film. Most of it seems to be narrative-type songs sung by Phil Collins.

It's different, but I like Phil, so it's all O.K. by me.

I've heard the soundtrack, and the Phill Collins songs are alright , but if they felt they just had to have songs then I just wish they split the songs and score 50/50.

Hey if anyone has a promo or anything with more of Mancina's score on it, let me know.
