Well, I just bought and listened to the score to Matrix and I was dissappointed that Varese released another thirty minute score. Now don't get me wrong, the music on the cd is awesome, I just wish they had released more.

I have a question though. My favorite part of the movie is when Neo and Trinity walk into the lobby and blow away all of those guards. I especially love the music that accompanies it. I was dissappointed when I found out that that music is not on the score. Could somebody tell me if that music is on the first cd or not? If it is, I guess I will just have to go buy it. But if it isn't, I am going to seriously ticked off and have to do some writing to Varese Sarabande. This just makes me mad. Oh well, maybe the scores to The Mummy and SW:TMP will make me feel better.

The song your looking for is called "Prime Audio Soup" by Meat Beat Manifesto. It's on the regular "songs inspired ..." or whatever soundtrack CD.

He's right... the song used in the lobby sequence is "Spybreak". The other songs on the Matrix (album) CD are pretty crappy, and is not worth getting if your only going to listen to Spybreak. You can easily find an MP3 of Spybreak on the internet (that song sounds great with a subwoofer). Apparently, Varese continues their cheap-assed tradition of releasing absurdly short soundtracks, but being a fan of The Matrix (movie), I may buy it.

Thank you so much. I am so glad to hear that. Now I am not so ticked off. I am just happy that my friend has a cd burner and is willing to burn off the cool tracks because his roommate has the cd. Now I won't have to spend another $18 just for a couple of tracks.

Here is the Matrix Score track list, its short, but the music is good, much better than I thought it would be, I was kinda hesitent about buying it, but I'm glad I did.
There are no big themes or anything but the action is ecxiting enought to makeup for it, and it has a lot of good moments especially when the choir kicks in.
If you ask me I'd give it a rating of 4 of 5.

I'm also wondering what the music from the sparring match is from. Is it possible that it's the "Leave You Far Behind" song by Lunatic Calm on the various artists soundtrack? If they mixed out all the sound effects and other excess noise in the song, the drum beats sound similar from what I remember after seeing the movie 3, yes, 3 times... Anyone agree?

I would like to defend Varese Sarabande here. The scores they release are usually scores that may not be released otherwise. They give us music that might not exist without them. Would you rather have some or none? I prefer some.

NP Phantom Menace.....I am thinking about buying a copy for my car and a copy for my home stereo so I dont have to walk all over with it.

Well, I listened to my friends copy of the first Matrix cd and I listened to the track Spybreak, and though it is similar, it is not the same version they used in the film. Believe me, I have seen the movie four times and I also work there so every time I am working, I have to go watch the part where Neo and Trinity walk into the lobby all the way up till the part where the helicopter crashes into the building. I have seen that part so many times, that I have every detail memorized.
A couple of other parts of music not on the score that I would have liked to have seen is the part where Neo and Trinity are in the elevator and they set the bomb. And the music that starts when Neo fights Mr. Smith in the subway all the way up until Neo gets shot in the hotel room. That action music was so cool. Other than that I don't think there was any more score they could've used. That would have only been approximately another ten to fifteen minutes worth of music. I think that I would rather listen to that music then the second track: Unable to speak. Oh well.
