Thatīs like saying he wasīnt the right guy to score Sommersby or Dolores Claiborne. Donīt judge the man before you hear what he actually does with the movie.
As for The Frigteners, It is probably the most weird score he has ever done. But it fits the movie, and, If you listen to it enough times, it grows on you. He has done better, yes, but his worst is better than most composers best.
This will be my last comment on this overly-discussed subject.

J.Guru How are you going to assume that Scream 3 would sound like Frighteners? Thats crazy. You have no idea what it will sound like. If you had been paying attention Elfman doesn't even compose the same anymore anyway. Instead of comparing it to Frighteners you should be comparing it to the additional music he wrote for Scream 2, thats how I'm viewing it.
Now i have nothing agianst Beltrami, I bevlieve that he is very talented ,and could compose a great score for Scream 3, but if he doesn't and Elfman does, then so what? It's still not Bad News.

There's nothing to dignify. It was a statement based on observation. You know...the scientific method.

Well if Elfman does score it I think it would be pretty good. I don't even think he even composes scores that sound like Frighteners anymore. So it will be interesting to see what he would do with his new sound. But I do have a very strong feeling Beltrami will score the movie anyway.

Come on Tim, you are going to force me to delete old topics if you keep this up! It's funny every once in a while, but it can get annoying if overdone!

As Scream 3 is already out on DVD and video, this discussion is over!
