Does anyone have any recomendations for scores to fall asleep to. No, I do not mean boring music. I mean soft, etc. Like some parts in the Horse Whisperer, Field of Dreams, and probably Saving Private Ryan.

I can only think of one score with 100% soft sounding music, and that's Braveheart. other scores with tracks on them that help sleep (I know, cause there ones I use) are The Abyss, Dragonheart, and The Truman Show.Sweet Dreams

Maybe "Shakespeare in Love," and I've personally used "Sabrina" by John Williams.

Even though I turn off whatever I'm listening to before I actually fall asleep, I usually listen to a score that sucks you into the moody atmosphere of the movie. The non-action tracks of Elliot Goldenthal's "SPHERE" soundtrack work well... tracks like the atmospheric "Opening Titles" or the dark and stylish track, "Wave". Also, Michael Nyman's "GATTACA" is a great soundtrack to listen to before falling asleep. A lot of the music in it is very slow and peaceful, and also draws you into the feeling of the film.

Medicine Man by Jerry Goldsmith is a very relaxing piece to listen to in my opinion.
Good for falling asleep.[This message has been edited by Matthew (edited 04-19-99).]

I have a three disk changer in the bedroom and always put in these three disks:Merlin, Trevor Jones
Dragonheart, Randy Edelman
Les Miserables, Basil PoledourisAll have great peaceful music. If you only have a one disk player you have to fall asleep to Merlin. It is very atmospheric and surreal.

Merlin is indeed a great falling asleep cd. But I would recommend Chris Young`s Haunted Summer, that has some of the most beautiful and peaceful music ever composed. Or any other Young thriller/drama score like Jennifer 8 or JUdicial consent. Or maybe Species opening titles or Fly 2, basically everything from him except Hard RAin, which is abit too bombastic to fall asleep to.

I fall asleep to the strangest things, even "Alien Resurrection" by John Frizzel. But, one that I do find very relaxing is Black Beauty by Danny Elfman. Try that one...

Don't even ask my why, but "Enemy of the State" by Trevor Rabin and HGW is easy for me to snooze to. It's a fun listen in the car (and a great score overall), but for some reason I find it relaxing. Can anyone else identify with me?I mean, it's a Bruckheimer film for crying out loud... I couldn't fall asleep to Armageddon or The Rock. EOTS is a different story all together.

"Braveheart" springs to mind and "The Thin Red Line" and several scores by Barry e.g. "Somewhere in Time" "Out of Africa" and his most recent work "The Beyondness of Things". Funnily enough though (like you SFT) I listen to any soundtrack to fall asleep(when I'm tired I'll fall asleep!!!!). I have the following always at hand by my bedside....Return of the Jedi,Waterworld,Independence Day,King Kong,The Peacemaker,ST:First Contact,Jumanji,City SlickersI/II and many other action packed scores!!! Gae NP Waterworld (I recommend anyone who doesn't have this score and likes action music...get it now,its superb!!!![This message has been edited by Gae (edited 04-19-99).]

First and foremost on my list of music to sleep by is John Debney's WHITE FANG 2. If you just program your CD player to skip past the few action cues and "hoe-down" tracks, the rest of the score is beautiful, romantic, and relaxing.Next I think Michael Nyman's THE PIANO is good music to fall asleep to, although it usually gives me sad, disturbing dreams when I do.
I'm getting sleepy right now, so I guess Richard Band's THE ALCHEMIST is a good one, too.

Hmmm, I dunno, Starship Troopers. hehehe. Joking....Seriously; If you can get your hands on it, Elfman's Good Will Hunting score is 30 odd minutes of beautiful music that will assure good rest. It's what I play to get me sleepy and relaxed anyway (ditto for Elfman's Black Beauty).
