I first became interested in Techno, sitting in a dark, empty theater as the credits rolled to Event Horizon. It was a Prodigy song (at first I thought it was from the score). On *that other board* we had discussed movie music not by movie score composers. I love the use of Propellerheads in Tomorrow Never Dies and The Matrix. I like techno that has more of a melody than just repetitive drum beats and strange sound effects. I just bought the Propellerheads cd, and I have Prodigy's Fat of the Land, and Crystal Method. So far, I like the cds in this order. Can anyone suggest something else I might like? Enigma sounds interesting, but do you think I'd like one of their cds? Which one?

You might try the soundtrack to a film called "Pi." It made EXCELLENT use of industrial/techno.The film's really awesome too.

Pi has good techno.
Dont forget Blade...all the action sequences were done to techno

What would be cool, and I don't know if this has been done, but I think it would be awesome.. to have the composer for the film ALSO come up with the fast paced techno music for the action scenes... that would be so cool, cause it would help add a fast pace to the scene, but it would also have a new sensation of FITTING the scene specifically..
I personally am trying to get into scoring for film (a long road yet), and if I ever had the chance someday, I would love to do both.np - Trevor Rabin - Armageddon

The 5th Element's score went in that Techno direction, and it worked very well with the movie. And we all remember the famous lobby scene with the "cool flip" in the Matrix. The techno song added to the powerful stylishness of the film. You also mentioned that Event Horizon was a "Prodigy Song"... wasn't it done by Michael Kamen and Orbital, not Prodigy?

Nope. The score was done by Orbital and Kamen, but during the credits, they played a Prodigy song called "Funky Sh*t." I'm watching Blade on dvd right now. What music is on the various artists release and what is on the score release? I can't tell, but I have liked the techno sound to the music.

I also have blade on DVD, and I didn't really like the isolated score.. I mean, it worked with the movie.. made it dark and everything, but I prefered listening to the techno in the movie.. very little of it was on the soundtrack from what I know.

On the Blade isolated score, there is a snippet of a piece of techno music that Isham created. It wasn't made to be used in the film. It was just something that he did.

You might also try the recent Saint song cd as a sampler of other Techno.

In the non-score realm, another tecnho-like album is Fatboy Slim's "You've Come a Long Way Baby". Rockerfeller Shank ("Check it out now, the funk soul brother, check it out now ...").It's been used in many trailer like She's All That and Office Space.
