I am deciding which of the following soundtrack to buy:
    1. Out of Africa (John Barry)
    2. Legends of the Fall (James Horner)
    3. 1492: Conquest for Paradise (Vangelis)
    4. Stepmom (John Williams)

Please mention only ONE because I am setting aside about 65% of my money on The Phantom Menace merchandise... Thanks

    Hi Will,

I don't think you will be disappointed with Legends of the Fall or Out of Africa, even though they may make you fall asleep! Those two are relatively lush, sweeping scores. Legends of the Fall gets a bit repetitive for me, but worth the money in the long term - it's always good to pull that one out and listen to it every now and again. My recommendation of the four is 1492. Vangelis is known as a keyboard synthisist, but he adds quite a bit of ethnic music into this score. It works really well for me.

    Hope this helps!

Both Legends of the Fall and Out of Africa are great, but a litte bit to repetitive. But yo´ll be happy with either one of them.

Legends is agreat score, one of the most epic scores I`ve heard, some great action/battle music as well.
Out of Africa; well, depends on whether you like Barry or not, or more accurately Scarlet Letter without the great Round-Up theme, repetitive definitely.
1492:Great Score, the only Vangelis I own and it`s got one of the most famous and great choral tracks ever..
    Stepmom: don`t know,reviews haven`t been that good

I definitely think you should go for Legends of the Fall by James Horner, out of all the ones you listed this is the one you should go for...it doesnt disappoint.

Alas, Will, I am two years too late to stop you from getting Legends of The Fall, the most overrated horner score in history! (It is bland, uninteresting, and unengaging. I'll take Apollo 13 over it any day).
    More importantly, you should get...
1492! Great synth work by Vangelis.
Anyhow, here's the "revived topic" I promised.
