    Hey,

I just bring this back up cuz I got Joe's compilations in the mail yesterday. Good stuff dude.

Joe, if you don't mind, I may expand on your idea, and remove the repetitious Logan's Run track, and add some other personal favorites, like Tora! Tora! Tora!, Patton, The Challenge, etc. and hopefully make a 3CD set with each disc running approx 75-79 minutes.

anyone know where one can buy 3CD cases, online or otherwise?

    Np -- Powder

'ey, Joe, what're you going to burn me in exchange for Sanda vs. Gaira? (Or perhaps you're irritated that I didn't include cue titles. I could forward some! If old Hatfield ever gave me back my original disc, that is.) (I am KIDDING, Mark! Take your time and trouble!) (and hey, Mr. InSanDiego, at least I took the trouble to download an improvised cover! Much handsomer than the one on the original black-and-gold double disc! And realistically, all it would take is a swift surf through the movie itself to make up some titles. I mean, come on, the way Mr. Ifukube wrote the first versions, it's just piles and piles of "Maser Cannon March Part 12" and so on. )

NP: THE CHALLENGE (rereading this thread, which I'd more or less forgotten -- how amusing to find myself months ago hoping for a complete CHALLENGE release ... who knew it was coming? I really, honest-to-god didn't.)

The action cues are maybe the only tracks from Willow which I would never put on a compilation. All of them feature Schumann's 3rd Symphony. Sorry that I've been mentioning this for two days now (since I got the CD), but as much as I like the rest of the score, this theme is perverse.

    NP: Romeo & Juliet (Prokofiev)

Also, xdr2.com and Sleeve City have 3 and 4 CD cases (Sleeve City only sells in bulk).

I find this thread remarkable for all of so many reasons, not only:

    1) The original post by Matthew was the 10th ever on this board, posted on the second day the board existed. Cool, considering a form of the Goldsmith tribute box set did eventually arrive.

    2) Dantoris says "Hi!" to dex! Shall we all say "Hi!" to dex?? What a fun scandal that would happen several more times on the board.

    3) Daniel2 and H Rocco posting in the same thread. Now that is some ancient history in the land of soundtrack discussion boards.

There are so many other reasons this thread is cool (uhh, and uncool too, if you follow). Any others with possible insights?

Yeah and the "Elora Danan" motif is stolen from a Bulgarian Folk song. I heard it on a Trio Bulgaria CD about 14 years ago. Sorry I can't be more specific.

"Willow" is FULL of material from other sources.

Well, in the last few years I've found more stuff in there: Prokofiev, Wagner (Die Walküre), Strauss (Alpensymphonie, Death and Transfiguration)...

I still like to play it every once in a while, the only really annoying bit is the Schumann.
