diachenko's review
of this soundtrack CD:
by diachenko on 6/7/2006 Interesting score from John Powell that must have worked very well in the movie to subtly ramp up the tension. However, as an album it's not as great a listening experience. The score is mostly rhythmic ambience punctuated by brass or string chords, creating a very unsettling mood but not giving the listener much to grab on to. However, the final track "Dedication" is worth the price of the CD, in my opinion. It is a haunting, stunningly beautiful elegy to those who died on Flight 93. Powell's young son sings for part of it, giving a sense of raw innocence that belies the terror of the story. While this score is not as instantly enjoyable and attainable as Powell's other big scores this year, X-Men: The Last Stand and Ice Age: The Meltdown, I would still recommend it if you can find it for a decent price. And I'm a really big fan of Powell, so I had to get it no matter what. =) see all reviews, or add a review
