Maaaan, I listen to an older score by Cliff Martinez and I know why Steven Soderbergh keeps keeps him on the roster. This is a very hypnotic score with almost the same sound David Julyan creates these days in most of his scores (Memento, Insomnia), but still there's a separation between the two music makers. "The White Van" is very menacing in a sublte way. Like the scenes in the movie, it's following behind an armored car, its windows darkened, and even though the main character knows about it, and is involved with it, the music gives you the feel that there is still something he's missing about his part in this fatal plot. The last 6 tracks are by bands such as Cowboy Mouth, Gal's Panic and others who are natives in the independant music scene. The songs are OK, but the score is the best part here.
