pepsukka's review
of this soundtrack CD:
by pepsukka on 1/13/2006 favorite track: 15 Once again composer Rolfe Kent teams up with director Alexander Payne, succesfully in my opinion, and the result is jazz-based (instruments like piano, saxes, trumpet, flutes, drums, bass, vines) up-beat happy melodies with a touch of calmly seducing melodies when love is trying to find Miles and Maya.
In the story, two friends hit the road one last time before the other one is supposed to get married. They drive through numerous vineyards, tasting wine, but more importantly, their points of views of life will be tested.
I thought the score worked very well. But a little warning for everybody who's interested in buying this CD. After seeing the movie and listening to the score, one could experience weird compulsive need for learning about wines, drinking wines instead of tasting them, and maybe even feeling the need to take that long forgotten road-trip with that special someone/friend. Or, ok, maybe it just happened to me.
Anyway, I recommend this score for all Rolfe Kent fans and for everyone else too, if one needs to find smoothing and fun background music while having dinner with friends or having that pleasant evening discussion about life's funny mysteries. see all reviews, or add a review
