Beltrami's score is the perfect end to the Scream trilogy. Yes, it's more of the same, but as the as the others were excellent, this is no bad thing.
With the original, he made scary music cool, the second was a little hipper, a little more exciting, and the third is the most grandiose of the three.
All the usual elements are in place: the mournful female voice for Sidney; the sly, modern rthythmic orchestrations; the spooky ambience; the frantic, bombastic action music.
I really like Beltrami's sound, but I worry that he'll be pigeonholed as the horror-guy. I still think that his finest work is Mimic.
The disc weighs in at 33 minutes, longer than Varese's dual release for the original films, so it's much better value for money.
