Hey, It Swashes Our Buckles...
Arrr! We love it. When this soundtrack ends, we play it again. Garrr! Why? Methinks it could be the swashbuckling nature of this music that turns on the secret pirate in all of us, but really... is that it? This collection of action-packed movie tunes appears to be nothing more than a thrilling ride of classic Hans Zimmer film scorisms: big brass, macho choir, power strings. It's fantastic Zimmer-directed music for sure, but we're left wondering how we might react had it not come in a package filled pictures of swaggering pirates, beautiful captives and sinking ships. Arrr, but Jack's theme is back, matey... of course this is pirate music! For this third float on the Caribbean, the music becomes more flavorful in its storytelling. Previous POTC scores left our breath short and ears worn, maybe even nurtured a headache the kind a bottle of salty rum might deliver... but here at world's end, we're treated to an incredible adventure that's hard to say no to (and the reason it's taken us a whole week to get around writing about it!). Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End soundtrack CD is the booty we've been hoping for, filled with love and passion, quirk and action. Treatments on favorite familiar themes are great fun, as are the directions with new music. Sweeping themes are what move us the most, you may think musical mania for Jack is best. But let's not divide ourselves.... time to plunderrrarrrrr!
