of this soundtrack CD:
by pepsukka on 2/24/2007 favorite track: 15 It usually bothers me when soundtracks have very different kinds of music in them. It easily breaks the possible long lasting mood (the direction where soundtrack is trying to take you) entirely, but not this time. Like film itself, get ready for a vigorous, violent, intense and heavy ride, even in the parts where the CD slows down a bit (tracks 5, 6, 14, 15, and 20). It's the albums entirety that makes all different kinds of small elements (songs and dialogue) seem important, afterwards.
With the running time of an amazing 75 minutes, the music can escort your thoughts on to a whole new level and maybe even surprise you. The song number 8 "Burn" by Nine Inch Nails and some other songs, too, are certainly not my cup of tea, but blew me away when I finally was ready for it. It took some time. I am not used to this kind of music, so the mood had to be exactly right to be able to digest certain songs/music.
The great thing about these kinds of soundtracks is that one gets familiar with new bands and singers that one wouldn't normally listen. Change and variations are always good. But this CD is definitely not for your average evening listen, and especially not to be played on the background when enjoying an evening with your friends or trying to educate your parents on what music means to you, unless they are very tolerant with a very, very different kind of approach to music experience. Complemented with some dialogue from the movie, this CD is a truly a unique experience. Recommended for everyone who's brave enough to test your taste in music even if you didn't like the movie (brilliant, scary and beautiful with problem awareness of society). I would have given this CD 5 stars but I can't out of principle and respect for orchestral and instrumental movie scores. see all reviews, or add a review
