TheVirginian's review
of this soundtrack CD:
by TheVirginian on 2/1/2005 I have been searching for this soundtrack "forever." When I bought the LP when it was first released (one of the few "box-set" record albums released), I played it to death. Although Bronislau Kaper is not a household name today, he composed some excellent scores during the relatively short period of time he worked in Hollywood. This has to be one of his best works. This 3-CD set is extraordinary, containing all of the music in the original theatrical release of the movie, the original soundtrack tracks (where they are different) and a whole array of alternate tracks and different version of the tracks. To give you some idea of the volume of music involved, the original soundtrack had about 35 minutes of music; this 3-CD set has almost 4 hours of music. The "Main Title," the "Love Theme" and the "Outrigger Chase" are among my favorites, although it is hard to single out any one piece of music because all of it is excellent. My only question is--why did it take so long to bring this great soundtrack to CD? see all reviews, or add a review
