JohnnyMonkey's review of this soundtrack CD:

4.5 stars
by JohnnyMonkey on 10/16/2003

For those of you who enjoy a good, fast-paced action mix, the Italian Job soundtrack is right up your alley. John Powell, who flexed his action score muscle most notably on Face/Off, has spread his wings and given a more percussive, hip, catchy, and ultimately engaging score that will put you in the action chair. Carefully orchestrated, Powell's score is derivative of a caper film, complete with many suspense tracks which keep you in the mind-set of a safe-cracker with no minutes to spare. The action kickers on this album are first rate, most notably the last three tracks which kick into high gear (and also are edited perfectly in the film) and take you on a rush of percussive beats and taunts which will leave you feeling that thrill-a-minute chase buzz. Excellent score for you writers out there, looking for something to inspire and drive you.
