I feel so ashamed for ignoring this gem's existence for so long. Its evident classical structure, the magnificent choir, the unique instrumentation (there's even a harpsichord!!), the deep, loud and crystal clear sound of the brass section, the various solo instruments (especially the violins, violas, cellos), the dark, brooding, ominous and compelling atmosphere are simply few of the elements that comprise this magnificent score. Possibly the composer's best work ever!
