craig's review
of this soundtrack CD:
by craig on 12/25/2004 favorite track: 4 I had this soundtrack before I actually knew there was a score-only CD for this movie too (please see my review on the score CD page). I liked the way the tracks were used in the different scenes, especially Moby's "Memory Gospel" for a rainy funeral scene. The spoken intro heard in "Lesson 30: Defending Against the Club Attack" does not have the same voice used in the movie. You can find the original on the score CD. But, the intro does work great as it bangs into "Diagonal Girl" (by Mint Royale), a really great club dance track that fell in the back of some other scene in the movie. This is a snappy little soundtrack, even though it is one of those "music from and inspired by" collections. But... this one just hits all the right "holiday" notes. There are a few Christmas tunes done by either Jellybean (Benitez) and/or The Accidentals. One "muzak"-type of "Jingle Bells" (done by Jellybean) was playing over the speaker in an elevator while Jack Carter was being confronted (at a reeeal bad time) by two thugs sent up to "check on him." The song is background muzak to the scene until the confrontation turns brutal, and it turns the scene darkly funny. With an odd variety of score-club music-holiday tunes, this soundtrack is actually a really great collection to have. see all reviews, or add a review
