craig's review
of this soundtrack CD:
by craig on 1/23/2005 favorite track: 10 This score is pure sinister. It has such a synical, brooding, sarcastic sound that is just Tyler Durden. The Dust Brothers, aka John King and Mike Simpson (never to be confused with The Chemical Brothers, Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons, who were once known as The Dust Brothers, but changed their name cuz the original Dust Brothers were around longer... wait... yea, that's right...), who composed, arranged and performed this score, have a great sense of humor when creating tracks like "Single Serving Jack" or Corporate World." Completely shows the day-to-day repetitive suffering of an unhappy pencil pusher. "Stealing Fat," the opening sequence, has a great first 50 seconds that I can repeat over and over. The last track, "This Is Your Life," is full of Tyler Durden's mantra and philosophy which originally wasn't on this score the first time it was released. Does add a nice kick of humor to it though. I'm glad they reconsidered adding it and re-releasing this score. I am not at all disappointed that this score doesn't have a Pixies song or a Massive Attack song on it. This score was done to showcase the Dust Brothers. I like those songs, but not here. Thankfully, it was pro'lly licensing issues that kept those songs off. Great choice of director David Fincher to give The Dust Bros the chance to do this. see all reviews, or add a review
