Dark City was one of the most underrated films of 1998 and really didn't have a fair chance at the box office, even though it received outstanding reviews from critics all around the world. Today, a film called The Matrix swiped its brilliant storyline and human elements and put it in a plot-hole filled script covered up by FX. Somehow people forgot that FX isn't everything - and the story means a lot more. The music from Dark City is fantastic. The soundtrack is such a worthy buy! Starting with lyrical songs, the album moves to the trailer music by Hughes Hall, and then to Trevor Jones's amazing score. His score is fast, dramatic, and has a one-of-a-kind feel. It's really hard to explain! However, if you like music by Jerry Goldsmith, Alan Silvestri, Brad Fiedel, John Ottman, and the great Hans Zimmer - then you will without a doubt love this soundtrack, because Jones knows how to get you in the mood. To me, he's the second greatest composer working in the Hollywood today! Get the soundtrack, watch the film again, and have a good time!
