Mr. Jim's review
of this soundtrack CD:
by Mr. Jim on 8/26/2000 This score was composed by Richard Robbins, who has penned the scores for an impressive selection of renowned films, including Ballad of the Sad Cafe, Howard's End, The Remains of the Day, The Europeans, The Proprietor and Surviving Picasso. For Cotton Mary, Robbins focused on the classical music of Southern India; Ismail Merchant introduced Robbins to revered Indian violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam, who also contributed original music to the film.
This close collaboration between both composers, has created a perfect underscore for the film's bi-cultural theme. Every track is priceless and hauntingly lush with melancholy threads woven into an extraordinary score. Not one to pass by, especially for all collectors with a variety of taste buds - this could be your cup of tea! see all reviews, or add a review
