Mr. Jim's review
of this soundtrack CD:
by Mr. Jim on 5/1/2002 Once again we call on the talents of Paul Bateman and Nic Raine who are joined by The City of Prague Philharmonic.... to venture on another journey through "classic french film music" with this second installment of "Arthouse Cafe." Featuring familiar composers who have made their mark in film achievement and scoring like Luis Bonfa, Francis Lai, Pierre Bachelet, Herve Roy, Gabriel Yared, Michael Nyman (personal favorite), Georges Delerue (set his standards high and other composers followed suit) and Miklos Rozsa (the legendary pure-melody composer), this outstanding line-up features brilliant performances to savor.
This compilation covers films from the '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s. My highlight pick is Rozsa's Providence - the haunting melodic style brings you under his spell of composing. Only through the miracle of HD sound and Dolby Surround can we relive those memories, gotta love it! see all reviews, or add a review
